ABOUT

LIVE

Shammi Pithia is building a solid name for himself as a creative composer and producer walking in the shadows of great artists such as Nitin Sawhney, who along with other major artist Talvin Singh, have praised Shammi and his music.

His album 'COSMIC' hit no.1 in the iTunes world music chart as did the debut album 'ShdowLines' by his band FLUX.

Shammi has worked on several projects including a remix for Nitin Sawhney that was released on his album The Last Days of Meaning. Shammi has been performing constantly with notable performances at Glastonbury Festival, The Purcell Room at London’s Southbank Centre, Sadler’s Wells, a headline show at the four-day festival ‘The Symbiosis of Sound’ curated by Talvin Singh at Kings Place and most recently another sold-out show at the Southbank Centres Hayward Gallery to name just a few.

A major endorsement of Shammis ability came in February 2014 where living legend of Classical Indian music Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia flew from India especially to see his concert in Rotterdam.

Shammi is a keen collaborator and has been commissioned by the Spanish National Dance Company and has also recently collaborated with dancer Vidya Patel and the Sujata Banerjee Dance Company to create a piece that he and Vidya then went onto perform at the live final of BBC Young Dancer Of The Year 2015 (BBC2) which reached an audience of over a million in the UK alone.

Shammi recently returned from India where he collaborated with the Sujata Banerjee Dance Company to create a Kathak piece based on the theme of global warming and recycling. After a intensive week of writing and rehearsing they went on to perform in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata in honour of Pt Birju Maharaj.

Shammi along with Sonna Rele and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra recently performed at the UK Welcomes Modi event held at Wembley Stadium to a 60,000 strong audience and broadcast to 100 million viewers.
